Browser GPU tests vs Furmark and 3DMark

What the browser is good at

Volume Shader and the 3D test run in a tab. That matters on a phone you will not sideload onto, a school PC, or a machine where you only want thirty seconds of signal. WebGL 1.0 is the compatibility floor so mid range Android is included. Start from GPU test if you are choosing which canvas to open.

What native benches still win

Furmark style burn ins, 3DMark published scores, and Unigine scenes can load the driver, power limit, and cooler in ways a browser will not. They also have leaderboards and more stable versioning. Use them for GPU shopping on a desktop, driver regressions, and thermal limits you will quote to someone else.

GPU-Z and HWiNFO still win for clocks, watts, and VRAM size. This site's VRAM test estimates an atlas we uploaded. It does not read the card.

A practical split

Need a clip or a phone check? Volume Shader. Need a timed raster number? 3D test. Need a sustained heat signal? GPU stress test. Need a fair compare? GPU benchmark. Need to decide if a desktop card is dying or misconfigured? Native tools plus a hardware monitor, not this site.

WebGL versus WebGPU

WebGPU can go further on supported desktops. These pages stay on WebGL 1.0 so older phones still start. If a canvas fails, try another browser before you assume the GPU is gone. All four tests are listed on live GPU tests.

What to quote, and what not to

Quote a browser FPS only with the test name, complexity, and browser. Do not treat it as a 3DMark score or a Furmark burn in. Desktop shopping still belongs to those tools. This site is the fast check you can run on a phone today.
